Jeanette Irekvist

Jeanette Irekvist

Jeanette Irekvist is President and Head of Customer Unit Canada, where she heads Ericsson’s engagements with our customers and other stakeholders in the country. Irekvist joined Ericsson in 1999. She has during her years in the company showed that she is a passionate, strategically minded customer-first executive, with a strong proven track record in a highly competitive and dynamic environment in both building business, as well as successful teams.

Jeanette has worked across most of Ericsson’s business domains and cross the Telecom/ICT ecosystem at the company headquarters in Sweden. This includes leading Marketing at the device/module platform joint venture ST-Ericsson, driving the Partner Sales Program in the Ericsson Enterprise company, but also leading Ericsson ConsumerLab which is the internal market research entity.

While working from Sweden she also had the opportunity to work across all major service providers in Nordic. In 2104, Irekvist joined the North American team and has worked with several T1s in the USA, building and managing wireless networks as well as building and growing the business in the Enterprise and Emerging Business space.

Jeanette has a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Law, both from Lund University in Sweden. She also studied business and law at the University of Singapore. Jeanette was part of the founding Ericsson Diversity Council and have a high engagement cross Ericsson’s resource groups as diversity and inclusion is a subject which she believes needs to strongly driven from our executive leadership as it gives positive business outcome and builds the best teams.

Carlos Perez Chalico

Private Cybersecurity and Privacy Leader, EY Canada

As the Canadian EY Private Cybersecurity and Privacy Leader, Carlos supports organizations to effectively face their challenges on cybersecurity, privacy, IT risk and IT governance matters.


Carlos started his career with EY in 1996 in Mexico City, took a pause in 2012 and rejoined EY in Toronto in 2018. Throughout his career, Carlos has helped companies of all sizes keep up with the rapid evolution of cyber threats by keeping their data safe and leveraging technology to drive growth and innovation.

Carlos also teaches at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies and volunteers for the ISACA Toronto Chapter and IAPP Canada. He was appointed as a Privacy by Design Ambassador in 2011 by the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. Carlos has been invited to speak at multiple events and conferences in Latin America, USA, Canada and Europe.

Carlos holds a bachelor’s degree in IT Management and multiple designations related to cybersecurity, IT risk management and governance (CISA, CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, ISO 27001 LA).

Matthew Gerber 

CEO, TeraGo

Matthew Gerber

Matt has over 30 years of global high technology market experience with high growth companies in the wireless, infrastructure, cloud computing and robotics markets, and serves as TeraGo’s CEO. His prior CEO roles include Rohinni, Digital Fortress, IT-Lifeline and SprayCool. Matt has also served on the boards of Luumii, Magna Rohinni Automotive, BOE Pixey, Vega, Perpetua, Pearson, 2nd Watch, Blue Box Group and Pacinian.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from Hofstra University.

Jodi Baxter

Jodi Baxter Vice President 5G & IoT Connectivity Strategy and Product Development at TELUS Communications, with 20+ years supporting product development in the telecom industry. Jodi leads a mandate to support digital transformation across IoT platforms, specifically how platforms enable automation and solution development with a focus on outcomes and importance of data and 5G in IoT. With a customer focus and understanding of how market trends and competition impact innovation and buying behaviors, Jodi is focused on supporting the delivery of 5G IoT solutions that improve the day to day operations of businesses, their employees and the end customer.

Irene Galea

Irene is a journalist from Toronto. She is a recent graduate of Carleton University, where she was the recipient of the University Medal in Journalism. During her undergrad, Irene worked for Carleton’s independent newspaper and her short documentary, Balance, was broadcasted nationally by CBC as part of the Absolutely Canadian series. Irene then reported on business and real estate for the National and Financial Post, and later wrote about investing in cannabis for Postmedia’s specialty publication, GrowthOp. Irene is interested in stories about Canadian business and the markets and recently obtained her CSC certification. Outside the newsroom, she enjoys learning new languages, reading about history and running.

Sébastien Roy

Sébastien Roy (M’00) received the B.Sc.A. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Université Laval, Québec, QC, Canada, in 1991 and 1993, respectively, and the Ph. D. degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada in 2000.


From 2000 to 2002, he was a National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Laval. In 2007, 2009, 2011, and 2018, he was invited professor with École Nationale Supérieure de Sciences Appliquées et de Technologie (ENSSAT), Lannion, France. In 2015, he was invited professor with Institut National de Sciences Appliquées (INSA), Rennes, France. From 2002 to 2012, he was sucessively Assistant, Associate (from 2005), and Full Professor (from 2010) at Université Laval. In 2012, he joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Université de Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, QC, where he is currently Full Professor, was Department Chair from 2016 to 2017, and where he is working on system-oriented and implementation aspects of digital intelligence, signal processing, advanced wireless communications, and cybersecurity. He is co-founder and co-leader of Université de Sherbrooke’s Center of Excellence in Integrated Intelligent Systems (CESIIUS). He is also a co-founder of the Digital Distributed Intelligence Network (D2IN), a multi-university consortium currently being established in Quebec with funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation.

Dr. Roy is active in industrial consulting and was involved in the organization of several international conferences. He is also recipient of multiple teaching, research, and technology transfer awards.
