Ally is an expert in risk and compliance in banking, management consulting and regulatory supervision for mid-to-large financial institutions across Canada, Asia, and the Caribbean. As a former regulator, Ally has worked with global regulatory agencies to develop and implement regulatory policies for banks, and investment managers. In his consulting role, Ally has helped financial institutions identify and create long-term value through data-driven insights and strategic implementation of complex business transformation.

As Chief Sustainability Officer, Martha plays a key role in stewarding Suncor’s many external relationships and strategic collaborations in support of the company’s ongoing economic, environmental and social performance leadership. Martha oversees Suncor’s sustainability strategy, public policy and government relations efforts; internal and external communications; and she is responsible for the continued deepening of the company’s Indigenous, stakeholder, and community relations. She was named a Canadian Climate Champion in 2021 by the British High Commission and the Canada Climate Law Initiative; one of Canada’s Clean50 for 2022; and named by the Energy Council as a top global female oil and gas executive and one of the top 275 women influencers.

Prior to joining Suncor, Martha was the President and CEO of the Canada West Foundation, one of Canada’s most important public policy think tanks, where her focus was on strong public policy recommendations for the economic and social prosperity of Western Canada, and by extension Canada as a whole. She has written dozens of essays, articles and op-eds for national publications in both official languages and has frequently appeared as a thought leader in national print and broadcast media.

She has over 30 years of experience as a corporate lawyer, international trade expert, senior executive and successful entrepreneur, supporting major multinationals as well as start-ups – primarily in wireless telecommunications and mobile payments, both in Canada and in Europe.

As a twice-elected Member of Parliament, she served in the Official Opposition shadow cabinet for International Trade; Finance; Transport, Infrastructure and Communities; and Public Works and Government Services, and she served on the House of Commons Standing Committees for all of those portfolios. She is currently a member of the Minister of International Trade’s Trade Expert Advisory Council.

Of mixed Anishinaabe and European descent, Graeme works at the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) as a senior policy advisor, ensuring federal and international climate policy safeguards First Nations rights, jurisdiction and knowledge. During this time, he has had the opportunity to represent the AFN at the COP 23, COP 24, and COP 25 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. In his spare time, he is a fourth-year doctoral candidate at the University of Guelph, studying the intersection of Indigenous governance, environmental governance, and the climate crisis.

Laura is a trained lawyer, communicator, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience leading organizations towards a low-carbon and climate-adapted future. Through her work at the intersection of climate change law, policy, and financial risk, she has been a respected advisor to leading North American financial institutions, as well as local and international governments. She is a leading voice on the legal imperative to adapt to climate change and the need to bring climate into the core of business considerations.

Laura has been a delegate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), attending annual COP meetings since 2007. Her journey as a communicator about climate change began in 2008 when she participated in Al Gore's Climate Reality Leadership Training program and learned to present the watershed film, "An Inconvenient Truth."

She is a published author and frequently writes for both academic and business media, contributing to numerous research and policy papers on legal liability related to climate change adaptation, the use of existing legal mechanisms to address climate change, and the role of markets and flexibility mechanisms in driving emissions reductions. As a respected speaker on the move to the low-carbon economy and implications for investors, she has addressed audiences representing over $1-trillion in assets under management. In 2015 she co-founded and became CEO of Mantle314, now Manifest Climate, advising large private and public sector clients globally.

Laura started her legal career with a prominent Bay Street law firm before founding the first law firm in Canada focused on climate change in 2009. She has also worked in the strategic research division of the Ontario Ministry of Finance and as co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Law and International Relations. She is co-founder of the Climate Change Lawyers Network, a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) committee on Environmental Law, a member of the University of Toronto's Environmental Finance Advisory Committee and sits on the boards of the Clean Air Partnership and Shift Action.
