Dr. Gayle Schueller is 3M’s Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer. Gayle started in 3M’s corporate laboratory as a product development engineer and has over 30 years of technical and business leadership experience. Her career spans a broad range of businesses from electronics to healthcare to consumer industries. She has led technical and business teams from around the world including Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America.
Gayle’s previous assignments include Vice President of New Platforms for Growth and Commercialization, Directora General for 3M Mexico, and Vice President of Research & Development and Design for 3M’s Consumer and Office Business.
She is passionate about making a positive impact in the world through science and technology.
David Redfern is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Canada’s Eastern Canada division. His leadership in the building materials industry has been both Canadian and global, with 25 years of experience, working across Canada and with over 20 countries.
Since 2019, David Redfern has led Lafarge's Eastern Canada division and its world-class team of 2,600 persons to record performance in profitability, industry-leading ESG ratings and has accelerated the innovation, digitalization and diversity agenda of the Group and the industry.
David is an early champion of building better cities and communities, focusing on low carbon and circular solutions to decarbonize building across its life cycle.
From 2014 to 2019, as Senior Vice President for the Greater Vancouver Area, David established Lafarge as a sustainability champion; during his tenure, Lafarge built an industry-leading position in the circular economy, grew regulatory influence through his work as a board director at the National Zero Waste Council, and launched Lafarge and Holcim’s first carbon capture pilot in North America.
David Redfern was the first CEO in the building materials industry to become a signatory to the United Nation's Women Empowerment Principles (WEP) in Canada in 2021. He also participated in the first cohort of the United Way’s Social Purpose Institute's Social Purpose Innovators Program.
Today, more than ever, his purpose as a leader is to build progress for people and the planet by decarbonizing cities.
Alex Osborne-Saponja is an Associate Director within the climate solutions business unit at Morningstar Sustainalytics, she leads on the development of products relating to carbon mitigation. Alex has spent the last two years co-developing Morningstar Sustainalytics new flagship product, the Low Carbon Transition Rating.
Alex joined Sustainalytics in October 2019 as a carbon subject matter expert. She previously led worked within the Research Team focused on carbon related issues, analysis and thought leadership, before joining the Climate Solutions Team when it was founded in 2021.
Alex has 16 years of experience working in the carbon and climate space, before joining Sustainalytics, she worked in academic research and then as a consultant for 11 years, heading up a sustainability consulting unit, focusing on developing strong sustainability strategies for a range of clients, focusing on maximizing opportunities presented by carbon and climate risk.
Alex has worked with Government, NGOs, and corporates, delivering projects ranging from carbon policy and strategy, compliance, reporting, foot printing and modelling, reduction and mitigation plans, nature-based carbon solutions, climate modelling and development of regional carbon markets.
Before relocating to Canada, she acted as advisor to HM Government on carbon strategy.
Alex has an academic background in environmental biology and environmental modelling and is an alumnus of the University of Nottingham and the Cambridge Institute of Sustainable Leadership.
Apoorv Sinha is the Founder and CEO of Carbon Upcycling, a world- leading carbontech company delivering technology to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. Under his tenure, Carbon Upcycling has scaled its technology over 10 million times and has partnered with 2 of the 10 largest cement producers globally. The Company is a Carbon X-Prize X-Factor award winner, listed as a CleanTech Forum 100 most investable companies, and has garnered support from a multitude of provincial and federal entities.
Apoorv currently leads various elements of engineering, business development, and project delivery as the Company expands across North America and into European markets. His relentless leadership continues to advance the Company towards the mission of being the world’s most impactful Carbontech company of the decade.
Apoorv is a Forbes 30 Under 30 Energy awardee (2020), a Clean 50 Honoree (2021), and has served on the ACTia (Alberta Cleantech Industrial Alliance) Board of Directors (2017-19). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Monica Feregrino is an Operations professional with 25 years’ experience. An Electrical Engineer with a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering, her career has involved managing complex business initiatives, including daily operations, operational excellence, manufacturing, capacity, capital planning, team management, quality, supply-chain selection, contractor hour management, vendor partnership, and resource rationalization.
Having lived and worked in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, with frequent travel to Europe, Asia, and throughout North America for business, Monica brings a strong understanding of global business practices to her role as VP Operations at MineSense Technologies.
She has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Influential Women in Canadian Supply Chain by the Supply Chain Canada Association, and as a 2020 Top Immigrant in Supply Chain.
