Peter Bak

Chief Information Officer, Humber River Hospital

Peter Bak

Peter Bak is the CIO at Humber River Hospital. He is responsible for the digital vision, on-going operations of that vision, and the innovation agenda.

With over 30 years of experience in healthcare informatics, IT operations, software development, and executive leadership, Peter has contributed to the Canadian healthcare system in many ways: driving 100% adoption of digital medical imaging in Canada, creating awareness of digital transformation and Command Centres around the world, and lecturing on Technology in Healthcare. Peter has a PhD in applied engineering from Imperial College, London. He has published various papers on health care-related topics and was recognized as the Canadian public sector CIO for 2016.

Stewart Hyman

Chief Technology Officer, Kyndryl Canada

Stewart Hyman is the Chief Technology Officer for Kyndryl Canada. He has more than 25 years of experience in the technology services industry, now with Kyndryl and previously with IBM, and has deep expertise in service delivery automation, having been the lead architect in the design and implementation of many tools and capabilities used in managed services solutions worldwide. He has a deep passion for both innovation and mentorship, and as the CTO for Kyndryl Canada, he leads and fosters the brightest and most innovative minds in incubating, modernizing and solving the toughest business and technical challenges for Canadian customers.

Rita Trichur

Rita Trichur is an award-winning journalist. She is a senior business writer and columnist in The Globe's Report on Business. Her previous roles at The Globe and Mail include senior editor, financial services editor, and Canadian business columnist for Report on Business Magazine. Rita returned to The Globe in July 2016 after spending over two years as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal’s Canada bureau. She primarily covered domestic banks and insurance companies from Toronto, but also wrote a variety of other stories about Canada for the U.S. newspaper. Prior to WSJ, Rita spent more than three years at The Globe, initially working as a general assignment reporter for Report on Business before covering the telecom beat. Rita has also covered financial services and economics for the Toronto Star, and has held various roles at the Canadian Press and the Ottawa Sun.

Fariba Rawhani 

Chief Information Officer, Teranet

In her role, Fariba is responsible for Teranet's full range of information technology functions, including analytics, project and change management, systems development, partner and supply management, security and value creation in businesses that have direct relevance to Teranet including lending, government services, banking and technology consulting.

Fariba has over 20 years of success in industry-leading organizations including EDS, CIBC and Home Capital Group. As a visionary and strategic senior executive, her rapid transformational leadership style inspires client commitment and employee empowerment. She is a results-oriented international leader, skilled in optimizing complex structures that support organizational strategies, with a successful track record of delivering programs, yielding measurable and sustainable improvements and significant overall financial benefits.

Most recently, as the CIO of York University and the EVP and CIO of the Home Trust Company, Fariba was responsible for a digital transformation agenda, process and technologies innovation, advanced analytics and machine learning, as well as enhanced governance and collaboration across technology and business units.

Nastaran Bisheban

Chief Technology Officer, KFC Canada

As Chief Technology Officer for KFC Canada, Nastaran is responsible for driving the digital innovation strategy and agenda for the Canadian business – furthering KFC’s technological offerings, enhancing the digital experience, and making it easier for people to interact with the brand.

Prior to joining the Yum! family, Nastaran served in various senior management positions at Rakuten Kobo Inc., Canadian Tire, BlackBerry, Siemens and CGI. She is a software engineer and computer scientist by education and holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool and a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School.

A passionate, energetic and seasoned technology leader, Nastaran challenges the status quo and conventional practices. One of her guiding principles is to find people who you admire and want to learn from, and latch onto them. There is much to be learned from others' life experiences. Nastaran also pays this principle forward – as a peer, mentor and active voice for women in technology. She has served as a Chair for the Waterloo Region Chapter of Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) and a Strategic Mentor for VentureLAB, amongst others.
